Applied Math Modeling Inc. was formed in January of 2008 as an outgrowth of the acquisition of Fluent Inc. by ANSYS, Inc. The primary mission of the company is to create application-specific CFD modeling tools for target design and analysis markets using new and creative models of delivery and support. The company's flagship product, CoolSim, is a software simulation tool focused specifically on predicting the cooling performance and efficiency in data centers. The unique way in which CoolSim is packaged and delivered to the market makes it easier to use and more affordable than any other tool of its kind.
Management Team

As the President and CEO of Applied Math Modeling, Paul Bemis brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team with over 30 years of involvement in the high technology market. Paul's unique background and education provides an exceptional basis for the pursuit of new and creative ways to solve complex engineering simulation problems. With an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (UNH), and graduate degrees in both Electrical Engineering, and Business (Northeastern), Paul is well positioned to understand both the technical aspects of product development and predict the market opportunity created by changes in technology. While at Apollo Computer Inc. and Hewlett Packard Inc., Paul was heavily involved in the development and market success of high performance RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computer) based multiprocessor systems used in markets ranging from high energy physics to automotive and aerospace design. As the Technical Server Business Line Manager at HP, Paul gained extensive knowledge in the application of HPC systems in leading-edge markets such as medical imaging, structural mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, seismic interpretation, and automotive design. His subsequent move into the software industry as the Vice President of Marketing for both ANSYS and Fluent continued to expand his knowledge of markets and opportunities in the engineering simulation marketplace. Today Paul is applying all of his experience and knowledge to the CoolSim product line, which works to break the ease-of-use and cost barriers that have constrained the widepread use of CFD-based modeling in the data center design and analysis market.

Jennifer Beliveau is the Director of Sales at Applied Math Modeling. Jen has over 22 years of sales and management experience in the retail, banking and high technology industries. In her role at AMM, Jen is responsible for all sales and reseller relationships throughout the world. Previously, Jen was a key member of sales for the HVAC and Power Industry teams at Fluent Inc. Jen was an early advocate of the CoolSim product and became closely aligned with the product development and sales and marketing efforts. In 2008, Jen became instrumental in the process of migrating the CoolSim product over to Applied Math Modeling, with a strong focus on maintaining continuity with the installed base of customers. Jen is a consummate optimist and has been frequently recognized for superior performance in sales while at Cherry Webb & Touraine, Rainbow Shops, Charming Shoppes, Inc., Citizens Bank and Fluent.

Elizabeth (Liz) Marden Marshall is the Director of Support and Consulting at Applied Math Modeling. Liz has an extensive background in the application of fluid dynamics to a variety of areas including plasma physics, industrial mixing, multiphase flow, combustion, HVAC, and cerebral blood flow. With 18 years of experience at Fluent, Liz participated in a number of roles including customer support, consulting, product management, and marketing. For 7 years, she served as the editor of Fluent News magazine, a widely respected publication in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics. Liz has a BS in mathematics from St. Lawerence University and a PhD in physics from Dartmouth College. She spent 9 years working as a college professor and served on the executive council of the North American Mixing Forum. As both a teacher and writer, with numerous publications to her name, Liz brings something special to the team: a passion for the science of CFD combined with an empathy for students of all ages.

Cliff Peaslee is the Chief Architect at Applied Math Modeling, responsible for all aspects of application design and development. Cliff brings a broad set of unique talents to the development team at AMM. As the lead developer on the CFDPost product at ANSYS, Cliff gained valuable expereince in the field of large-scale scientific postprocessing. His direct involvement in Fluent's FloWizard product provided an excellent foundation for how to develop, build, and deliver a CFD-based engineering tool to a mass audience. Prior to this point, CFD analysis tools where simply too complex and difficult to use for widespread deployment. Cliff received his education in the field of Computer Science (UMaine) and has experience in the fields of rich interactive GUI design, high performance graphics, internet collaboration software, and large scale object-oriented applications.
